Verbier Ends Relationship with it's Tourism Director
Yan Baczkowski leaves Verbier Tourist Board
Yan Baczkowski has left his post as chief executive officer of Destination Verbier Saint-Bernard, a position he has held since December 2010.
The decision by the Board to end Mr Backzkowski contract as tourism director for Verbier was made public yesterday in a statement given by Committee of the Development Corporation of Verbier. Due to a restructuring of regional tourism, the board of directors chose to give notice to Mr Backzkowski who had brought experience and integrity in his role with the tourism board.
According to the President of the local commune, Eloi Rossier - 'The will of the Board of Directors was to propose a solution that efficiently matches the wishes of the various partners that are the SD of Verbier, regional EAS, the communes and Televerbier.'
A short term replacement contract of three months has been awarded to Cacique (a company founded by Dominique Fumeaux, the former director of the Pays du Saint-Bernard who also worked with Crans-Montana Tourism). This will allow authorities in Verbier the time to reflect on decisions and decide on the best way forward for the resort.
March update: President of the board, Christian Sarbach, has resigned and has been replaced by Eloi Rossier.
The search is on for a long term replacement.
