Verbier has 22km of pisted cross country skiing tracks in and around Verbier.
Tracks are maintained for both the classic and skating styles, usually side by side on specially prepared pistes. These trails all operate on a one-way system (for obvious reasons), The circuits are free to use (although you will need a lift pass to access some areas) and given the flat terrain on which they are laid out, are of easy level grades – mainly green and blue tracks.
The pistes are generally open from 09:00 to 17:00 each day (snow cover permitting) and are maintained each evening. Walkers (and their dogs) are requested to keep to the marked pedestrian trails (which are free access) and not stray onto the marked ski trails.
In the resort, you will find a 4km loop trail situated behind the parking near the sports centre.
Situated at an elevation of 2,200m, cross-country skiing enthusiasts will delight in the Les Ruinettes – La Chaux trail; a 6km round trip offering panoramic views that will take your breath away. Simply take the gondola up from Médran to the Ruinettes station (a lift ticket must be purchased for this) and you’re on your way.
In the Val de Bagnes, directly down the mountain from Verbier, another 10km circuit awaits you in Le Châble, while further up the valley you will find yet another 2km, in the quiet setting of Plamproz!
