Grand Concours Hippique
Showjumping in Verbier
The Grand Concours Hippique is held every August in Verbier. Since 1997 this regional and national competition has drawn riders from all over Switzerland and in some cases the world, to the Val des Bagnes for a week of show jumping.
The paddock area is open to the public free of charge and whether you are a fan of equestrianism or not it is a great spectacle.
With the whole show taking place in an arena half the size of a football-pitch it is easy to watch the riders and horses clear some astonishingly high fences, and with the sun shining and a cold drink in hand it is easy to enjoy the sport even if you were not originally a fan.
