Cover up or pay out

The highest court in Switzerland has ruled local authorities are now allowed to fine anyone caught hiking nude in the Swiss Alps. Those who dream of hiking through the Swiss Alps wearing nothing but a good pair of walking shoes, will have to keep dreaming.

A Swiss court recently threw out an appeal by a man who was fined 100 CHF, after he was caught walking naked - the man probably didn't choose the best route as he ended up strolling past a family with small children enjoying a picnic and also a Christian rehabilitation centre for drug users.
Although there is no official law in Switzerland against public nudity, the court claimed that hiking naked was 'a breach of decency customs'.

Hiking naked is said to be more and more popular in the Alps, so if you do intend to do so in Verbier make sure you carry a few Swiss francs in your back pocket...
