The Patrouille des Glaciers (PDG) is the ultimate ski mountaineering event in which military and civilian teams of three compete to win this prestigious race.

The PDG began during World War II, as a way for mountain specialists of the Swiss Armed Forces to train in harsh mountain terrain. The race only takes place every two years and requires a certain level of fitness and experience to enter, despite this the race draws in thousands of particpants.

Sections of the race take place from Zermatt to Verbier and Arolla to Verbier.

Not taking place until 2026, you can find out the programme for next year's event and register online on the PDG website (link above).
