Chez Dany Restaurant, Verbier exterior

1. Chez Dany Restaurant

Location
Verbier

This restaurant is a great spot for families, and pets too! They serve local specialities with contemporary touches.

Set in what must be one of the most beautiful restaurant locations in the Alps, if not Europe. Nestled amongst the trees in the forest of Clambin and accessible only by skiing a long winding track, or hiking from Verbier, the restaurant oozes alpine charm. The restaurant serves a wide selection of beautifully presented dishes, with their fondues being renowned around town as some of the best. Chez Dany also benefits from its south facing position, meaning it gets drenched in sun for almost the whole day. The deck chairs outside are the perfect place to soak up some rays and relax while you enjoy a drink or wait for a table.

Once the lifts close, you’d expect Chez Dany to close given its remote location. However, the experience gets even better. From town you can get the snowtaxi, a transformed Cat-Skiing machine, which will drop you off right outside Chez Dany. Most people also hire toboggans and head torches from one of the local rental shops and then sledge back down into town after their meal. This makes Chez Dany hugely popular with families and groups seeking something unique out of their holiday.

They cater for kids, vegetarians, provide a playground for the kids, and a terrace for the grown ups (in summer) to take in the views from. The menu is a mixture of all kinds of dishes from all over the world, so you're sure to find something that suits your tastes.

Open every day in summer and winter. Closed from late April to early July.

Le Carrefour Restaurant, Verbier exterior

2. Le Carrefour Restaurant

Location
Verbier

One of the oldest dining spots in the Bagnes/Verbier area, offers a varied menu of Swiss and international cuisine. Guests can enjoy mountain classics like rösti, fondue, grilled meats, seasonal dishes, and vegetarian options with creative touches.

The restaurant features stone‑walled interiors, spacious seating, and terraces with alpine views. Friendly service, local wines, and a relaxed atmosphere make Le Carrefour a popular choice for lunch, dinner, or après‑ski dining.

They serve fondues plus a wide selection of rostis and delicious steaks, and a menu just for the kids. Their wine list is one of the best in resort, serving local Valais, French, Italian, and Spanish wines. It can be easily accessed by the Carrefour bus, which stops right outside the front door, or by the easy Le Rouge blue run which bends to the right after the Les Attelas chairlift. Booking in advance is highly recommended if you’re wanting to dine here in the evening, as it’s swiftly becoming one of the trendiest and most sought after places to eat in Verbier.

Open in winter from December to April, from midday until late. Lunch sittings at 12:00 and 14:00. In summer, by booking only.

The interior of the restaurant La Marmotte in Verbier

3. La Marmotte Restaurant

A traditional mountain restaurant with views over Verbier and out to the Mountains.

Serving local cuisine using fresh ingredients and mountain flavours. The restaurant interior can’t get any more authentic, with a gorgeous open stone fire creating a warm and cosy atmosphere. They pride themselves on using the finest local cheeses in their recipes, so inevitably the fondue here is delicious.

The restaurant is also open in the evening, serving Raclettes and other Savoyard dishes. To get there it will take you a 30-minute walk from the last stop on the free bus line by the Carrefour restaurant and then following the forest road. You will be ready for the Savoyard delights once you arrive. You can get a table here in the evening by reservation only and you can even sledge back down to Verbier after your meal.

Booking is recommended during peak season. In the summer you can drive to the restaurant via the road that heads to Corix de Coeur or alternatively hike to the restaurant for a well deserved lunch. In the winter, ski from the Savoleyres and for those on foot take the trails from the Sonalon or the sports centre.

Le Caveau Restaurant, Verbier interior

4. Le Caveau Restaurant

Location
Verbier

This restaurant is situated in the central square of Verbier and is great for meals with family, friends and loved ones.

Le Caveau is exactly what the name suggests, a snug, antique, family run restaurant like something of Hobbiton. This is one of the most popular places in town to head for fondue or raclette, due in part to the charismatic waiting staff. It’s central location in Place Central makes it easily accessible and given that it’s been running for over 30 years, Caveau is unlikely to disappoint.

With a menu offering a range of different fondues (meat and cheese), raclettes, salads and entrees, as well as a children's menu, you can find something for everyone. The different types of fondue are definitely worth trying and, with friendly staff and a traditional cosy interior, you will not be disappointed. Our favourite choice from their menu has to be the truffle fondue, which gives an even more indulgent spin on such a classic dish.

Open every day in the winter season.
