Later on this month, UK snowboarder Jamie Barrow will to attempt to set the first British speed snowboarding record in Verbier.

There is currently no official British record for speed snowboarding as a result of the risks involved so Jamie will be fully kitted up in safety gear when he bids for history on the 19th-20th April during the X Speed Ski event. He will be expecting to reach speeds of around 160 km/h (100 miles an hour) as he attempts to set the record on the Mont Fort slope.

Jamie is one of the UK's top snowboarders and has been competing at international level since he was 14 years old. A former British Junior Champion and a current member of the British Snowboardcross Team, Jamie is also a Sky Sports Living for Sport Athlete Mentor - an initiative that encourages youngsters to get involved in sport.
