Verbier Snow Report: 16th December 2013

Strictly piste skiing under perfect blue skies in Verbier

This weeks snow report is from Megan who enjoyed a weekend of quiet slopes, sunshine and apres drinks..

Considering there has been no fresh snow for a couple of weeks now we were pleasantly surprised, we skied Medran, Attelas, Le Chaux and then over towards Siviez on amazingly well covered pistes,

The snow cannons are in action all over the resort, and the pistes have a good covering of soft snow over the hard pack underneath.
As can be expected, there are a fair few icy patches to watch out for, and the lower pistes down the the Le Rouge beginners area are barely covered. The off piste is certainly not very tempting - lots of rocks showing through all over resort. Popular itinerary routes, such as the Tortin are skiable, but quite hard and bumpy with rocks scattered over the run.
There were a lot of people enjoying the sunshine on the Verbier side of the resort this weekend, but skiing over towards Nendaz on the pistes above Sivier was beautifully quiet!

The resort is still slowly emerging from the inter-season hibernation but there are still plenty of places to go for a well earned drink, Le Rouge is open and has a DJ playing and Offshore is good option to grab a cheeky few during happy hour.

The snow gods are tempting us with a forecast suggesting some fresh snow for Verbier on Thursday...
