The temperatures below 1450m have been milder, creating a freeze-thaw cycle, affecting snow quality on the lower ski slopes.

Top tips for skiers this week in Verbier
- Quiet pistes: Take advantage of the January lull! Ski between 12:00 and 14:00, and you'll feel like you have the mountain to yourself.
- Snow conditions: While the pistes arebeing really well-maintained, some spots can be quite hard-packed and icy. For a smoother ride, stick to the softer snow along the edges.
- Gear up: Pack both low light and sunny lenses. Different thickness of layers is key to adapting to the changing temperatures, especially with the wind chill on certain lifts.
- Stay warm: Even with mild daytime temperatures, the breeze can make it feel much colder. A buff or neck warmer will keep you comfortable on those breezy lifts.
- Safety first: Avalanche risk is currently between 2 and 3 (moderate/considerable) out of 5. If you plan to venture off-piste, ensure you have the proper equipment, up to date weather information, and guidance.
Make the most of these last couple of quiet ski weeks in Verbier.
