Bring your children on a ski holiday to Verbier

Verbier is a family-friendly resort that makes things as easy as possible.

Travelling anywhere with children can be challenging, and in a ski resort it can be doubly so with things like lift passes, equipment hire and ski lessons to arrange (never mind hats, gloves, snotty noses and the rest...!). Here's why we recommend Verbier as a family destination.

Top reasons to visit Verbier as a family

1. Ski area and lift passes
There are lots of beginner areas and there are two main nursery slopes in the town. The first and closest to the centre of town, Les Moulins, has a 320m long run, service by a drag lift along with a small conveyor belt. The second and slightly larger area is Les Esserts, with a piste nearly 400m in length. Plus Verbier offers favourable lift pass prices to families, making valuable savings.

2. Great ski schools
The tuition available in Verbier is truly brilliant. You'll find ski schools offer lessons for little ones with ski instructors that are all incredibly friendly, and are well-trained and qualified to look after your kids, giving you the opportunity to explore and enjoy the mountain..

3. Short transfer times
When travelling with children, short transfers to resort are a must and Verbier has good transport links to the main airports. Geneva is only two hours away by airport transfer.

4. Easy to get around resort
Verbier operates a great free bus service every day throughout the winter season that connects all of the areas. A fleet of buses operates around resort from 08:00 right through until 20:00, all routes passing through the centre on a regular basis.

5. Child-friendly accommodation
The choice of hotels and rental accommodation in Verbier is vast with new establishments opening up or renovating every year, offering top quality accommodation with services for families.

6. Modern leisure facilities
On the days you don't want to ski, head to the leisure centre. Spend some time swimming in the pool, playing squash, ice skating, climbing the indoor wall or join a fitness class.

7. Fun on the hill
Verbier is home to the longest sledging run in French-speaking Switzerland. From the top of the Savoleyres bubble lift, the track winds for over 10km down through the trees to finish in La Tzoumaz. The journey is exhilarating, with tight turns to faster, steeper sections. Spending a morning or afternoon sledging with the family is a great way of adding something different and unique to the holiday while resting the legs a little. All of it is very family friendly, and high-quality toboggans can easily be rented from most of the Verbier rental shops.

8. Family-friendly restaurants
Most restaurants around resort have a children’s menu, high chairs and facilities for children, and families are always made welcome.

9. Family activities
Verbier prides itself on offering families a whole host of activities away from the slopes. If the weather in resort is horrendous, or you just want to relax and take some time off from skiing, Verbier has a lovely cinema to kick back and relax in with regular showings of films in English, with something child friendly always being played alongside the adult offering. Just down the road from Place Centrale is the perfect outdoors ice rink, or husky sledding rides can be organised through the forests surrounding Verbier.
