Open Day in Bruson, free coffee & croissant
More snow due over the weekend
We have had lots of snow fall in Verbier over the last couple of days, and today the sun is trying to break through the clouds for a beautiful day on the snow. The better weather is only here for a day though, as more snow is forecast to fall over the weekend.
30cm of fresh snow has fallen on the slopes, and all of the lifts are open in the resort today. Most itineraries are still closed following the snowfall, so make sure not to venture under any ropes closing off areas. The avalanche danger has gone up to 3 out of 5, and yesterday lots of slides were seen throughout the area, so be very careful if you are venturing off piste [or consider going with a guide].
This weekend is the Open Day in Bruson. When you buy your ski pass you will get a café and croissant offered as well as menu of the day in any of the restaurants on the ski area. There will also be ski tests – for both skis and telemark - and a slalom event with DJ’s playing music all day. This is happening on both Saturday and Sunday.
On the other side of the valley, on Sunday Savoleyres and La Tzoumaz are holding the ‘La Tzoumaz Toboggan Day’. This event has run as a race for 21 years, but this year it is no longer only a race. Anyone who wants to join can, there will be untimed runs, fancy dress competitions, toboganning teachers and food and drink stands open along the run.
This weekend is great for exploring the lesser known areas of the Verbier ski resort.
