Take in every face of Mont Fort with this full day hike

This full day hike will take you around the 3,328m peak of Mont Fort, the highest peak in the Verbier ski area. With almost 1,000m of ascent and descent it's not for the faint of heart. For those of you up for it, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the whole mountain plus there are plenty of places to stop for lunch along the way, maybe take a refreshing dip in one of the many lakes that you will pass, such as the green waters of Lac de Cleuson.

This route can be found on SwissTopo National maps: 1325 (Sembrancher) and 1326 (Rosablanche).

Directions

From Les Gentianes ( accessible via gondola), walk to the Col de la Chaux. Then cross it and continue on up to the Col de Louvie, passing by Petit Mont-Fort Lake. From there, you will enjoy a magnificent view of the Grand Désert glacier, continue the descent to the St. Laurent hut to have a rest and snack. Continue your hike alongside Cleuson Lake before last walking back up to Tortin and returning to your starting point via the Tortin-Gentianes gondola.
