Verbier is looking in very good shape as we move through the final part of February, with the high alpine terrain above resort holding a strong and well established snowpack. The village has a lively feel with the holiday period in full swing, yet once you head up towards Attelas, Mont Fort and the wider 4 Vallees the mountain still feels expansive. Conditions are settled and reliable, particularly at higher elevations where the snow has remained consistently cold.
Snow and Weather Summary
Current snow depths are around 85 to 105 cm at resort level at 1500 metres, with between 180 and 260 cm reported on the upper slopes above 2500 metres, particularly around Mont Fort at 3300 metres. A light refresh of around 5 to 10 cm has fallen at higher elevations in recent days, improving surface quality on exposed runs while the deeper base remains firmly in place.
Temperatures have ranged from minus 10 to minus 6 degrees on the upper mountain, while in the village daytime highs have reached between minus 2 and plus 3 degrees depending on sunshine. The freezing level has generally hovered between 1500 and 1800 metres, dropping overnight and allowing good refreezing on groomed pistes. Winds have been light to moderate, occasionally stronger on high ridges but without widespread disruption to lifts.
On piste, the best conditions are found above 2000 metres where snow remains firm, grippy and consistent throughout much of the day. The higher north facing slopes towards Mont Fort and Tortin are skiing particularly well, with strong coverage and reliable surfaces. Mid mountain runs are in good shape in the mornings and soften slightly on sunnier aspects in the afternoon. Lower runs back to resort remain open and well maintained, though they are best enjoyed earlier in the day during milder spells.
