Verbier is now firmly into its spring phase, with long sunny days and a mix of conditions depending on where you ski and when. The village has a softer feel by the afternoon, but higher up the mountain there is still plenty of winter left in the snowpack. It is a good time to be here if you are happy to follow the sun and make the most of the changing conditions through the day.
Snow and Weather Summary
Snow depths are currently around 70 to 110 cm at resort level, increasing to between 180 and 260 cm on the upper slopes, with the best coverage across Mont Fort and the higher sectors of the 4 Vallées. There has been very little fresh snowfall recently, with only light dustings at altitude that have not significantly altered the base.
Temperatures have been sitting between minus 8 and minus 3 degrees on the upper mountain, while in resort daytime highs have reached between plus 4 and plus 11 degrees. The freezing level has generally been between 2400 and 2800 metres, dropping overnight which is helping to firm up the snow for the following morning. Winds have been mostly light, though occasionally stronger on exposed ridges.
Skiing conditions are best above 2200 metres, where pistes are firm early on and soften into a smooth spring surface as the day progresses. Higher terrain around Mont Fort is holding its quality well for longer periods. Lower runs, particularly those facing south and down towards Le Châble, are softening quickly and can become heavy by mid to late afternoon.
