Verbier feels properly settled into winter this week, with the village wrapped in snow and the high terrain above looking well filled and confident. From a local point of view, the season has found a steady rhythm, with a solid base across the area and conditions that feel dependable day to day. The mountains have that crisp late January look, and skiing feels consistent rather than changeable.
Snow and Weather Summary
Snow depths are currently around 240 to 260cm at altitude, with approximately 70 to 90cm at resort level. There has been little fresh snowfall in recent days, but the snowpack remains in good shape thanks to cold overnight temperatures. Daytime temperatures on the mountain have generally ranged between -10 and -3 degrees Celsius, with freezing levels sitting around or below 1300m. Winds have been mostly light to moderate, occasionally stronger on exposed ridges but not enough to significantly affect lift operations. Skiing is best higher up where the snow stays dry and firm throughout the day, while lower runs can feel harder early in the morning before softening slightly later on, especially on sunnier aspects.
