Visit Verbier this Easter 2018
More sunshine, better vibes, Easter is a great time to visit
Often people are hesitant to book a skiing holiday at Easter with it often being luck of the draw if you get good snow. However, with Easter Sunday falling earlier than usual this year, April 1st, there’s a good chance the snow conditions will still be good, and there’ll be a better chance of scoring a classic bluebird day.
If you need convincing, then here’s our list of the best reasons to come to Verbier over Easter.

Temperature
As winter turns into spring, naturally the temperature starts to rise, and while you might think that cold weather is better for skiing, it’s hard to deny that skiing in just a jumper on a mild spring day beats wearing four layers, and still being damp and cold in a -17°C January whiteout. Verbier averages highs of 10°C in April, which means you’ll be able to sit outside all day on a peaceful mountain restaurant veranda without getting too cold.

Cheaper deals
Towards the end of the ski season, you can often start to find cheap deals popping up from ski tour operators looking to fill empty spaces in their chalets. It’s not uncommon for people to wait until the last minute to book their April skiing holidays, with many waiting to see if the snow conditions are still good. This gives you a good chance of saving some money, and if you book through one of the ski tour operators, they will take the stress from you of having to organise everything.

More skiing time
For most of the season, the lifts in Verbier close around 16:30. However, with the days getting longer and sunnier towards the end of the season, the lifts are kept open longer, usually until around 17:30. This not only means you can ski for longer but you get more bang for your buck from your lift pass. The sun also rises higher in the sky, and so you’re less likely to find yourself in a cold, shady bowl for too long.

Best apres vibes
With the season nearing a close, the resort staff tend to be more up for a good time. Most of the bars and clubs will be putting on special events and BBQs to celebrate the warm weather, and another successful ski season completed. There’s usually more going on up the mountain too, as bars such as Ice Cube and Le Mouton Noir ramp up the volume, enticing more people to enjoy a beer in the sun, all while dancing away on the tables in their ski boots.

Great events
The Freeride World Tour final is being held on March 31st this year, the day before Easter Sunday. This is one of the biggest days of the year in the Verbier calendar, and the resort comes alive as vast crowds gather to watch the world’s best freeride skiers take on the terrifying Bec des Rosses.
Just a week later is the Verbier High Five by Carlsberg, a fun open competitions where the public are given the chance to compete against the best athletes of ski racing in giant slalom, mini KL (flying Kilometre), skicross, and trampoline. The festive party is held at Chalet Carlsberg and is accompanied by concerts and parties. Check out our for events calendar for a full list of everything going on in Verbier.
